The School congratulates fourth year BDS student Emily Black, who has recently qualified to work as an NHS 111 call handler. Alongside continuing with her year 4 studies and preparing for upcoming assessments, Emily has somehow found the time to complete the 111 training and has started supporting patients calling the helpline this week.
Emily said: “It has been a lot to learn in a short space of time, but I am extremely proud to be doing my small bit for a life-saving service in these unprecedented times. Last weekend, with my training complete, I was signed off to take calls specifically related to COVID-19 solo! It has definitely done wonders for my communication skills (especially as I can’t use any of those non-verbals!!) and I have met some amazing people along the way. The NHS is a wonderful organisation that we should all be incredibly proud of.”
This is great work Emily, we are really proud of you!
