Huge congratulations to current Year 5 BDS student, Qui-Yi Lim, who was awarded the Junior Colgate Prize at this year’s BSODR conference, held last week in Birmingham.
This award recognises excellence in research performed by undergraduate students as part of their degree programme. The competition was fierce, but Qui impressed the judging panel with her project entitled ‘The Effect Of Maternal Pregnancy Smoking On Offspring Molar-Incisor Hypomineralisation’. This research was performed during Qui’s intercalation year, supervised by Tom Dudding (BDS) and Kurt Taylor (BMS). In recognition of her efforts, Qui was awarded a cash prize, as well as £3000 to the School to further support undergraduate research in the coming year. Not only that, but Qui will now represent the British Division in the Hatton Award at the IADR conference in 2022, to be held in Chengdu, China. A fantastic achievement and one that Qui and the entire School should be rightly proud of!
