The Final Competition for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Dental Skills competition took place on the 10th March in the Scottish Capital. Dentsply support the College and provide materials for the competition. Entry is restricted to Final Year Students who have won the 16 regional competitions that took place at the end of last year. In this final heat, regional winners are asked to complete an OSCE circuit demonstrating their skills in simulated clinical dentistry.

In the regional competition, Cara Turner’s work really impressed the judges as it was awarded a perfect score for her crown preparation. In this final heat, the judges were impressed by the standard shown by candidates from all Dental Schools. Cara Turner from Bristol Dental School was awarded the third prize by Professor Saunders who is the Dean of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh). Cara did exceptionally well and reported that her training in the Clinical Skills Laboratory at Bristol Dental School had supported her efforts in the competition.

I am sure you will join in congratulating her and wishing her well for the future, and please enjoy the images and video of the ceremony.
